With the average fastball from an MLB starter being an incredible 92.3mph, pitchers need to look for every advantage to earn those outs. And those techniques have been some of the most closely guarded secrets in professional sports.

So when 8 pitchers invited ESPN (and their Phantom high speed cameras) to talk about their signature pitches for their MLB Preview issue, ESPN decided they might want to turn this into something more than a magazine feature.

Working with the ESPN editorial team, we created an interactive experience that takes the viewer through each pitch in intimate detail — starting with a introduction, narrated by each pitcher, through a frame-by-frame analysis that highlights body position and facts for each movement, and a final strike box analysis to show when and why each pitch is most successful.
